About This Scholarship

The Central South University Scholarship 2027-2028 provides fully funded postgraduate programmes for international master’s and doctoral students covering tuition, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance, and monthly stipends. This scholarship is available to excellent non-Chinese citizens from all countries who meet language proficiency and academic background requirements.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Monthly stipend (CNY 3,000 for master's students; CNY 3,500 for doctoral students)

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Non-Chinese citizen with no criminal record and in good health
  • 2 For Master's: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; age 18-35 years
  • 3 For Doctorate: Master's degree or equivalent; age 18-40 years
  • 4 For Chinese-taught programs: minimum HSK4 score of 220 (science/engineering) or 260 (arts/social science/medicine); HSK5 score of 200 for Chinese language and literature
  • 5 For English-taught programs: minimum IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 85
  • 6 Exemption from language requirements if: first/official language is Chinese or English, or previous degree taught in Chinese or English
  • 7 Strong academic background and innovative research capabilities required for postgraduate applicants
  • 8 If under 18 years old, must be no younger than 16 with eligible guardian living in China

How to Apply

Create an account on the Central South University website and begin filling out the application form

Submit required application materials including: passport photocopy (validity over 1 year), physical examination record (dated after October 1, 2025), highest graduation certificate or notarized translation, stamped transcript or notarized translation, non-criminal record or notarized translation (dated after October 1, 2025), HSK/IELTS/TOEFL transcript, two recommendation letters from professors/associate professors with contacts (signature dated after October 1, 2025), study plan of minimum 800 words (graduate applicants only), and published essays or supporting materials (graduate applicants only)

School of International Education conducts initial review of applicant identity, language ability, physical and mental conditions

Upon passing initial review, pay application fee of RMB 500 on CSU unified payment platform within two weeks (WeChat, Alipay, UnionPay accepted)

Relevant academic schools conduct academic review examining academic background, research ability, and innovation potential

Final admission results released via admission email with admission notice and visa application form
