About This Scholarship
The AI Alignment Foundation offers an eight-week fully remote research fellowship providing $12,000 stipend for participants to conduct research into artificial intelligence safety and alignment. Fellows work at industry speed in collaboration with AE Studio’s alignment team, with dedicated support, mentorship, and access to compute resources to produce substantial research outputs.
What This Scholarship Covers
- $12,000 stipend paid in installments
- Cloud GPU access and API credits per team
- Dedicated research manager for day-to-day support
- Midpoint one-on-one mentorship with senior leadership
- Demo Day attendance with travel and expenses covered (in-person option in LA)
- Access to research infrastructure (Linear, GitHub, Google Drive, Slack)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must have a strong machine learning background capable of running experiments and implementing papers
- 2 Must have spent real time thinking about AI alignment beyond just reading about it
- 3 Must have completed some form of independent research (LessWrong post, hackathon project, thesis, preprint, or similar)
- 4 Must be able to work autonomously and show meaningful progress
- 5 Must be genuinely interested in AI alignment long-term
- 6 Must be flexible and excited about exploring different research directions
- 7 Open to any career stage: recent PhDs, MSc students, self-taught researchers, or people transitioning into AI alignment
