About This Scholarship
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) is an annual award offered to full-time Master’s and PhD students who have demonstrated superior intellectual ability and academic accomplishment. Master’s students receive $20,000 per year for 12-24 months (up to $40,000 total), while PhD students receive $25,000 per year for 12-48 months (up to $100,000 total).
What This Scholarship Covers
- Annual stipend of $20,000 (Master's) or $25,000 (PhD)
- Funding duration: up to 24 months for Master's students or up to 48 months for PhD students
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be admitted to a full-time graduate program (Master's or PhD) at the University of Manitoba
- 2 Must have achieved a minimum admission GPA of 3.0 (departments may require higher)
- 3 Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and not receive a grade lower than C+
- 4 Must be a full-time student in the recommended unit and progressing satisfactorily
- 5 Must show great promise as a researcher and graduate student
- 6 Must not have held UMGF support for more than 4 years in total
- 7 Must not have an active admission-related hold on student account during provisional admission period
- 8 Must not be receiving a singular award or scholarship of equal or greater monetary value than the annual UMGF value
- 9 Must not change programs, routes, or departments/units while receiving the UMGF award
- 10 Pre-master's and Occasional students are not eligible
- 11 All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply
- 12 Students in all fields of graduate study are eligible provided their program is eligible for Tri-Agency funding
