About This Scholarship
The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity at American University. The scholarship covers all billable AU expenses including full tuition, room, and board for one international student, with up to eight additional partial scholarships valued at up to US$40,000 per year.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an international student who has overcome various obstacles and challenges or is from diverse and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds
- 2 Minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent out of 4.0 GPA (or in the top 10% of graduating class) for grades 9-12
- 3 Demonstrated commitment to leadership, volunteerism, community service, and advancing the needs of people in home country
- 4 Must meet one of the following English proficiency requirements: 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores 20+), 24+ paper-based TOEFL, 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores 6.0+), 33+ SAT Reading subscore, 29+ ACT English, 65+ PTE, 125+ Duolingo (all subscores 115+), or Cambridge Assessment English 185+ (all subscores 169+)
- 5 Must be currently enrolled in secondary/high school and graduating by June 2025
- 6 IB system students must plan to graduate with full IB diploma with at least 3 HL subjects
- 7 British A-Levels students must complete at least 3 A levels and finish 13 years of study before August 2025
