About This Scholarship

The Clarendon Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for international students at the University of Oxford, covering all tuition and college fees plus an annual living grant of at least £15,009 for full-time study. Approximately 140 scholarships are awarded annually for new Master’s and DPhil (PhD) programmes across all disciplines.

  • Study support grant for part-time scholars (minimum £2,502 for part-time DPhil, minimum £5,003 for part-time Master's)

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be applying for a new Master's or DPhil course at the University of Oxford
  • 2 Must meet the January admissions deadline for their course
  • 3 Must be enrolled in a degree-bearing graduate course (Postgraduate Certificates or Diplomas are not eligible)
  • 4 Must not hold a deferred offer to start in 2025-26
  • 5 Must not be a current student continuing in the same degree programme
  • 6 English language proficiency required
  • 7 Open to applicants from all countries worldwide

How to Apply

Apply by the January deadline for your course through the standard University of Oxford graduate admissions process

Your application is assessed by academics in your proposed field of study for academic quality and suitability

Your department makes the final decision on your graduate place and notifies you of the outcome

In parallel, academics in your department nominate candidates for Clarendon scholarship consideration based on selection criteria

Academic divisions review departmental nominations in February or March and assess on academic merit and future potential

Top-ranked departmental nominees are shortlisted for Clarendon by the academic divisions

Clarendon Fund administrator contacts successful applicants with scholarship offer letter
8
During April and May, Clarendon Partnership Awards are matched to scholars based on award requirements
9
Each scholar receives a funding breakdown letter outlining final funding arrangements and college placement confirmation
10
Successful candidates are contacted via email, with majority of offers sent by early April; unsuccessful applicants are not contacted
