About This Scholarship

This DAAD scholarship programme offers the opportunity to complete a doctoral degree in Germany at state or state-recognised institutions of higher education or non-university research institutes, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The programme supports individual doctoral projects supervised by a university teacher or participation in structured doctoral study programmes, with funding for up to four years.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Monthly stipend of €1,400
  • Health, accident and personal liability insurance cover
  • Travel allowance (upon application)
  • Annual research allowance of €460
  • Monthly rent subsidy (under certain circumstances, after start of funding)
  • Monthly allowance for accompanying family members (under certain circumstances)
  • Subsidy for additional costs related to disability or chronic illness (on application)
  • Online language course fees covered

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must have above-average qualifications
  • 2 Must have completed a Master's degree or Diplom by the time the funding period begins
  • 3 In exceptional cases, a Bachelor's degree may be accepted
  • 4 Must have secured admission or have a letter of intent from a doctoral supervisor at a German institution

How to Apply
