About This Scholarship
The Kyoto University CSEAS Fellowship 2027 invites accomplished scholars and researchers to conduct multidisciplinary research on Southeast Asia and related regions for three to six months in Kyoto, Japan. Fellows will access outstanding academic resources, collaborate with experienced faculty, and engage in seminars, workshops, and publications while developing comparative and global perspectives in their field.

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be an accomplished scholar of high academic standing
- 2 Must be under 65 years of age at the time of fellowship appointment (applicants over 65 may be considered only in exceptional cases)
- 3 Must hold a PhD or obtain prior approval from a CSEAS faculty member to serve as counterpart if PhD not held
- 4 Must not be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program
- 5 Must not be engaged in postdoctoral studies
- 6 Scholars who have previously held a CSEAS fellowship are eligible to reapply only after six years have passed since completion
- 7 For library position: must be an experienced librarian
