About This Scholarship
The Cadbury Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career researchers from sub-Saharan African universities to conduct advanced research in African History and African Studies at the University of Birmingham’s School of History and Cultures. The fellow will undertake research, develop academic publications, contribute to teaching, and engage with the University’s research community over 18 months.

- Competitive salary £36,636–£46,049 per year with potential progression to £48,822

Who Can Apply
- 1 Must hold a PhD focused on the history of Africa and/or African diasporas
- 2 PhD must have been examined and passed between 1 June 2021 and 1 June 2026
- 3 Must currently be based on the African continent
- 4 Must be employed by or affiliated with an African higher education institution in sub-Saharan Africa
- 5 Must demonstrate research activity and publications appropriate to postdoctoral career stage
- 6 Must be able to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and Master's level in African Studies and History
