About This Scholarship

This scholarship supports cultural heritage professionals including curators, restorers, mediators, and culture managers from DAC list countries to undertake international exchange stays in Germany. The program promotes transcultural dialogue, sustainable practices, and decolonial approaches in cultural institutions through professional knowledge sharing and network building.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • EUR 1,500 monthly stipend
  • Visa costs
  • Round-trip travel
  • Health insurance
  • Monthly public transport pass
  • Up to EUR 500 for language course
  • Family allowances (EUR 250 for spouse, EUR 250 per child)

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be a curator, restorer, cultural mediator, or culture manager
  • 2 Must work with cultural heritage, collections, or archives in an institution
  • 3 Must have completed higher education or vocational training
  • 4 Must demonstrate good English language proficiency (German or host country language helpful but not required)
  • 5 Must be from a DAC list country (for stays in Germany) or from Germany (for reciprocal stays)
  • 6 Must name and secure a non-profit or public host institution in Germany
  • 7 Must jointly develop a concept note with the host institution

How to Apply

Prepare proof of non-profit or public corporation status of host institution (register extract or certificate)

Obtain invitation letter from host institution for planned stay

Obtain letter of reference from supervisor or home organisation

Gather employment references attesting to work experience

Develop concept note jointly with host institution addressing project title, description, objectives, planned impact, cooperation form, timeline, and mutual learning aspects

Provide contact details of host institution and exchange partner (if applicable)

Upload all required PDF documents (in English or German) via application form

Complete online application form with personal information, contact details, former stays in Germany, scholarship dates (between February 2027 and 31 December 2027), host institution details, work experience, education/training, and language skills

Certify accuracy of information and accept terms
