About This Scholarship

This three-day capacity-building workshop invites journalists from Anglophone West Africa to strengthen their skills in reporting critically on Africa-China relations, including trade, investment, and political dimensions. Participants will receive both subject matter knowledge and journalism techniques to cover complex stories pertaining to Africa-China relations in an increasingly multipolar global setting.

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must be based in an Anglophone West African country (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, or The Gambia)
  • 2 Must work in print, radio, television, or digital media
  • 3 Must report on areas such as politics, economy, business, trade, development, environment, extractives, infrastructure, or international affairs
  • 4 Must be available in the last quarter of 2026 (September-October)
  • 5 Must secure a formal permission letter from editor to participate fully in the workshop
  • 6 Must be able to produce in-depth stories upon completion of the training
