About This Scholarship
The UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Programme provides qualified PhD scholars the opportunity to conduct research on development and global economic issues at UNU-WIDER in Helsinki for 2-3 months. Scholars prepare papers for publication in the WIDER working paper series and present seminars in their field of research.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Medical insurance (for sickness and accident during stay)
- Monthly stipend of EUR 3,375 as contribution towards travel, visa, accommodation and out-of-pocket expenses
- Supplementary grant available for high travel costs exceeding EUR 1,200 (lowest economy class fare)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must hold a PhD degree in economics or a development-related discipline
- 2 Must have a good publication record
- 3 Applications from early-career, female, and developing country researchers are particularly encouraged
- 4 Research should ideally overlap with UNU-WIDER's current research programme, though proposals on all aspects of development are considered
