About This Scholarship

The Warwick Doctoral College PGR Scholarship Competition is one of the UK’s largest centralized doctoral funding schemes offering full tuition coverage, living stipend, and researcher development support to eligible PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD, and MRes+PhD candidates. A single application automatically places candidates into consideration for multiple funding opportunities across various schemes.

What This Scholarship Covers

  • Full tuition fees covered
  • Maintenance stipend at prevailing UKRI rate (3.5 years for most schemes)
  • Researcher development support
  • Research, Training and Supporting Grant (RTSG) of £5,000 (Chancellor's and AHRC schemes)
  • Up to 40 days annual leave per year (pro-rata for part-time)
  • Personal and professional development opportunities
  • Support to suspend studies temporarily
  • Access to additional support for disabled PGRs
  • Paid short term, family and medical leave options (select schemes)

Who Can Apply

  • 1 Must apply for a Postgraduate Research Course at University of Warwick (PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD, or entering PhD stage of MRes+PhD)
  • 2 Must be starting in October 2026 (academic year 2026/27) - scholarships cannot be deferred
  • 3 Must not be a current Postgraduate Research student unless a specific scheme explicitly allows it
  • 4 Can be of any nationality or fee status (unless otherwise stated in specific schemes)
  • 5 Can be from any discipline (unless otherwise stated in specific schemes)
  • 6 For AHRC scholarships: must propose research project within AHRC research remit
  • 7 For Chancellor's scholarships: may propose interdisciplinary research project aligned to Research Spotlight or Research Centre
