About This Scholarship
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship recognizes and supports academic excellence for full-time Master’s and PhD students who have demonstrated superior intellectual ability and academic accomplishment. Awards provide annual stipends of $20,000 for Master’s students and $25,000 for doctoral students, with flexible funding durations.
What This Scholarship Covers
- Master's: $20,000 per year for 12 or 24 months (up to $40,000 total)
- Doctoral: $25,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months (up to $100,000 total)
Who Can Apply
- 1 Must be admitted to a full-time Master's or PhD graduate program at the University of Manitoba
- 2 Minimum admission GPA of 3.0 (departments may require higher)
- 3 Must maintain minimum GPA of 3.0 and not receive a grade lower than C+
- 4 Must be recommended by their department or unit
- 5 All students regardless of citizenship are eligible
- 6 Must show great promise as researchers and graduate students
- 7 Must not have an active admission-related hold on student account during provisional admission period
- 8 Must be registered full-time and progressing satisfactorily
- 9 Must not have held UMGF support for more than 4 years in total
- 10 Must not be receiving a singular award or scholarship of equal or greater monetary value than the annual UMGF value
- 11 Must not change programs, routes, or departments/units while receiving the award
- 12 Program must be eligible for Tri-Agency funding
- 13 Pre-Master's and Occasional students are not eligible
